For Nejla, the love for football began as curiosity and soon turned into passion.
“I was curious about what made boys so happy while playing football. When I picked up the ball, the director of Nacional, Almir Gegić, and my coach, Mirzet Mehmedović, noticed my talent. That further motivated me to stay on the field and train. I spent six years at Nacional, where I gained great experience,” said Hasić.
Playing on a team with boys wasn’t easy, but for Nejla, it was a valuable experience.
“I played as a right winger, which required a lot of effort. I always gave my maximum and brought joy to the team. I remember one match where I scored two goals and secured a win. Those are moments you remember for a lifetime,” recalls Nejla Hasić.
Although it was hard for her to leave Novi Pazar, Nejla Hasić emphasizes that she is extremely satisfied with the conditions at TSC.
“Honestly, it was hard to leave the girls from Novi Pazar, with whom I spent many years. At TSC, I was welcomed phenomenally—the club has excellent training and playing conditions. What impressed me the most was the equipment and the quality of the pitch. All the girls and the management showed great respect toward me, which means a lot,” she said.
The new right winger of TSC highlights that the atmosphere at the club is outstanding and that such conditions allow her to progress steadily in her career.
“The atmosphere at the club is excellent—work, order, and discipline come first. Playing against strong teams like Crvena Zvezda, Spartak, and Radnički Kragujevac is a great experience. I rate the progress I’ve made at TSC as a 10,” says Nejla Hasić.
When it comes to role models, Nejla has a clear favorite in the football world.
“My role model is Mohamed Salah. His playing style as a right winger has always fascinated me,” she admits.
As for the future, Nejla says she currently has no plans to leave TSC:
“Right now, I have interest from other clubs, but I’m not thinking about leaving TSC. The club has been fair and correct toward me, and they’ve welcomed me wonderfully, which is what matters most at this moment,” says Hasić.
Nejla follows the progress of her former club from her hometown and hopes for a better future for ŽFK Novi Pazar.
“Novi Pazar is now playing in the Second League West and is currently second in the table. I hope they’ll make it to the First League, but they need financial support. Through this, I appeal to all people of goodwill to help the club,” Nejla shares.
Finally, Nejla has a special message for all girls who dream of football but face prejudice.
“Football is not just a men’s sport! Girls can play football, and it’s been proven that they excel at it. Every girl who wants to play should know that it’s a big challenge, but also the most beautiful thing that can bring happiness in life,” says Nejla Hasić.
