The club president emphasizes that they are preparing for both challenges with the same pace and focus, not allowing any relaxation.
“Just as for the Požega team, we are preparing with the same intensity for the Radnički team from Kragujevac. Although Radnički is currently the only team besides us that remains undefeated, we approach every match with maximum seriousness, regardless of the opponent’s quality,” said Kolašinac, stressing that their team’s attitude is not to underestimate anyone.
Although the club was founded in 2013, they decided to join official competitions of the Serbian Table Tennis Federation in 2022.
The decision not to start competing immediately, but after nine years, was carefully considered. The club president explains that the goal was for the team to be ready and not enter competitions without the necessary experience.
“Those nine years of waiting definitely paid off. We made history, achieving something unprecedented in Serbian table tennis,” said Kolašinac, adding that their results caused a real “boom” in table tennis.
Although the club does not think too far ahead, their ambitions, as Kolašinac says, are huge. Their primary goal is maintaining a good atmosphere within the club and building strong relationships with other clubs in Serbia.
For further progress, the club is aware that investments are needed, and their current financial situation reflects their successes so far. However, the club president emphasizes that this will not be enough for the next season if the team becomes a member of the First League.
“Current results reflect our financial situation, but it certainly won’t be enough for the next season if we become members of the First League. I invite everyone who wants to contribute to our club’s development to join and help us continue our path of success,” said Kolašinac, adding that investments in table tennis are not as high as in some other sports but still cannot be ignored.
Interest in table tennis in Novi Pazar is growing year by year. Kolašinac is optimistic about the future of this sport in the region:
“More and more people are at least recreationally engaged in this ancient sport, and more tournaments are being organized,” the club president noted, hoping that Top Spin’s successes will help elevate table tennis in Novi Pazar to a higher level, similar to that in Europe and the world.
The Top Spin table tennis club consists of talented players from various cities in Serbia and the region. The club’s players are: Milan Mirković and Žarko Đurđev from Novi Sad, Bogdan Ilić from Ćuprija, Dušan Bulatović from Podgorica, Damir Talović and Samir Talović from Sjenica, and Nermin Hamzagić and Mesud Nikšić from Novi Pazar.
The season’s derby against Radnički Kragujevac is scheduled for Sunday, November 17, at 11 AM and will be held in the small hall of the Doguš sports center.
STK Top Spin emphasizes that fan support is needed now more than ever and invites all citizens to attend the match against Radnički and cheer for the players.
